The Starlink Mini sips power, but you still need the right setup. Here's what works for camping, RVs, and backcountry trips — with real-world runtimes.
Check availability →The Starlink Mini draws roughly 25–35 watts during normal use, with brief spikes up to about 50 watts during boot-up or firmware updates. To put that in perspective: it uses about as much power as a small laptop or a string of LED lights. That's remarkably low for a satellite internet system that delivers 120–150 Mbps.
Here's approximately how long different power stations will run a Starlink Mini continuously:
| Power station | Capacity | Starlink runtime |
|---|---|---|
| Jackery Explorer 300 | 293 Wh | ~8–10 hours |
| EcoFlow River 2 Pro | 768 Wh | ~22–26 hours |
| Anker SOLIX C300 DC | 288 Wh | ~8–10 hours |
| Jackery Explorer 1000 | 1,002 Wh | ~28–33 hours |
| EcoFlow Delta 2 | 1,024 Wh | ~29–34 hours |
For a weekend trip (2–3 days), a power station in the 250–300 Wh range is enough if you use the Mini a few hours per day. For continuous use or week-long trips, step up to 700+ Wh or bring solar.
Pair a 100W solar panel with a power station and you can run the Mini indefinitely during summer months. A 100W panel in full sun generates roughly 400–500 Wh per day in Utah — more than enough to cover the Mini's consumption and recharge the battery for overnight use. This is the ideal setup for long-term base camps, extended RV trips, and vanlife.
For the Mini alone, a 100W panel is plenty. If you're also running other devices (fridge, lights, phones), consider 200W or more.
The Mini doesn't need a generator. Its power draw is low enough that even a small power station handles it easily. The only scenario where a generator makes sense is if you're already running one for other gear (RV AC, appliances, tools) and want to charge the power station faster than solar alone.
If you're car camping or RVing, a 12V-to-AC inverter is the easiest power solution. Most vehicles can supply 100–400 watts through a standard inverter, which is more than enough for the Mini. This works well for:
